Oh My Smoothie!!!

Every year on the first warmish day of Spring EVERYONE where in New England dresses like it's August. I completely understand their enthusiasm and willfulness for warm weather but not everyone is in shape to wear some of their warm weather clothes. This includes yours truly. And really when it's 50 out do you really need to wear short shorts, flip flops and a tiny t-top?! I don't think so....

With our purchase of the Vitamix, aka the BEST BLENDER IN THE WORLD, it has been Smoothie-Palooza 2013 in our house lately. Here's my newest creation the Tropical Green Smoothie....

Tropical Green Smoothie

3/4 - 1 cup of frozen pineapple*
1 banana
1/2 cup of frozen mango*
2 TBSP flax seed Meal
3/4 cup of plain unsweetened kefir (I use this because of all of the fabulous protein but you can use ANY milk or non-milk substitute that you want. Light coconut milk works great in this)
2 big handfuls of spinach

*I recommend when freezing fruit to slice it up lay it on a cookie sheet and put it in the freezer for an 20 minutes. Then toss it in a zip lock baggie or Tupperware. This way it won't clump up and it's MUCH easier to toss in the blender

Add some ice cubes if you like it thicker or some sparkling water (just a touch) if you like this to be a little thinner and fizzy.

Blend and Drink! About 350 calories
